Who needs fireworks?

Last night was a memory I want to hold forever. The still, mild arctic air. It's not cold enough to be winter, not warm enough for the snow to be gone. No sound, except the soft crunch of the snow under my feet. The northern lights silently danced in the sky, greens, pinks and whites. The baby is sleeping on my back in the amauti, I can hear her soft small breaths. Nathan is working late and the dishes can wait. All I want to do is stare up at the sky. I hope that in 10 years I can close my eyes and recall this night.
The chicklet asleep. I tell you the amauti has been terribly handy. If I didn't have one I would be stuck inside all the time and photography for me would be dead. Thank goodness for the amauti and photos other then just the baby!

Wow, the pics are amazing...i've been checking for northern lights here lately but no luck so far!!! What kind of lens did you use, anything special? And yes, I second you on the amazing use of the amouti....I would never leave the confines of my house without it!!!!

Awesome photos Jen! You know how jealous I've been of your aurora availability since you moved up there. Dammit! At least back in T-bay we would get it maybe once or twice a year. I have yet to see it once down here in Southern Ontario

Stunning photos Jen. Once again I'm jealous of your skill with a camera.

Ezri looks different, did you stop putting Vaseline in her hair?

I miss the light shows. That's a wicked looking lens. What is it?

Too funny, Clare:)

Thanks everyone!

Lindsay, is it because you are so north your not seeing them maybe?

Clair, no more Vaseline! I've learned my lesson lol.

Indigo, it's a Nikon 24-70mm 2.8F
Nathan got it for me for Christmas to go along with the D700 Ezri got me! The cats gave me filters and Tallinn was so sweet, and gave me a memory card! (my husband is weird lol)

I miss the lights. We don't get them here like that. And I'm soo grossly jealous of that camera.

Look at you, you guys got some northern lights while here in Fairbanks we've been sorely lights deprived! Good for you! We had three weeks of -40 at one point and I think there ought to be a law that if you have to live in that kind of cold you get lights!

Nice blog, great pictures! Mine is at http://inktrails.blogs.com
