Wearing Babies

Morena, myself and Meaghan got out with babies yesterday. This is really the only way to do it up here. Morena made me a FANTASTIC bunting bag for Ezri, so she stays up straight and slips in better to the back of the amauti. I think everyone that has an amauti needs one of Morena's bunting bags, they are amazing!I'm looking to replace my ties on my amauti and tried making some on my own, but got too lazy. If anyone is interested, have a look at this catalog, they make some pretty awesome ones. I'm going to order mine soon. I'm also in the market for a lighter amauti for summer, but the material at the store is down to bare bones.

Jen! There is a store here that has so much material, it's insane. I would be happy to pick something up and send it to you if you'd like. :)

Ezri looks quite content being all "wrapped" up. And the three of you look like you had a great outing!

Hi. I've been reading your blog for a while and enjoy it. I was wondering if you could show me a video of you putting Ezri in your amuti. I wear my daughter but nothing as beautiful as that.
Thanks,
Catherine

Lovely pictures. Have fun designing a summer amouti. Kristina Alariaq really is the go to person who has excellent understanding of the Inuit garment design and translating that into a workable garment.
The fabric selection in the "fabric" store in Iqaluit is pretty extensive and has more colours of commander than I have ever seen.

to get materials up north, you want to look at baffin electronics in iqaluit, decent price and they will ship it to you. i think their commander is $12.99? i could be wrong but down south, commander is $7.99. so it isnt bad and they have a great selection for fabric.

when Ben was a wee one, i used something similar. i did tie the amauti a little higher and prop him with a receiving blanket. you ladies look great! i love my lighter weight brown amauti. i am making myself one for summer..still in the works but with linen.

Wow, that bunting bag looks awesome...I would have loved one for Hanna when she was younger, cause I had alot of problems keeping her upright! For a summer amoutie I have a sleeveless one...it is great because even when it is cooler in the spring or fall you can just wear a fleece jacket underneath, and then during the summer it is nice and cool...you know, if it ever does get nice!!! (i'm thinking i'll be wearing my winter one all summer at this point!!!!)

That bunting bag is fabulous! I swaddle Halia in a couple of fleece blankets, but she's starting to get too big - eek! I covet the bunting bag.

I've been planning to do a "how-to" post on getting baby into amauti because so many people ask me. And since no one ever showed me how, it took me two kids to figure it out!
